PACTEC’S TRANSPAC EXCLUSIVE SOLUTION FOR BIRD FLU
USDA orders over 1,500 custom-developed bags to contain Bird Flu outbreak.
BACKGROUND
In Spring of 2015, the USDA confirmed several cases of highly pathogenic avian
influenza (HPAI) outbreaks across the US. A nationwide organic waste company was
contracted to gather and dispose of all infected wild birds and commercial poultry
flocks. In order to do this properly, PacTec, Inc. was sought out to custom develop a
bag that would completely encapsulate the pathogenic remains, including any smells
or off gases. A large amount of bags would be needed in very short order, and shipped
to outbreak locations across the country.
OUTCOME
PacTec was able to design a custom bag for the contract company that met all USDA
requirements in short order. Using our patented zipper closure system, a heavyweight
woven, coated polypropylene outer bag layer with a heavy weight polyethylene inner
liner, PacTec manufactured and shipped over 1,500 bags to all outbreak areas. The
USDA has now issued a mandate that this custom manufactured bag from PacTec will
be the exclusive remediation method for future outbreaks.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Custom solution designed, manufactured and shipped in record time
- Met all USDA mandates to contain the pathogen
- Exclusive USDA-approved solution for containing future outbreaks
